DISTINCTIVE CACHET DESIGNS
Rooted in traditional cachet design with Artcraft as my bellwether among cachet makers, I have set out to create thoughtful cachets that capture the essence of each United States Postal Service stamp issue.
Charles L. Goodman is a registered architect in 16 States throughout the Midwest and Southern United States and has been collecting First Day Covers for over 50 years. He is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) having served in the US Army and Reserve for over 32 years.
Starting in 1969 when he got his first covers cancelled with that "First Day of Issue" post mark (sadly without cachets), Charles began to collect as many covers as he could. When Artcraft stopped making cachets in 2015, Charles used his penchant for art and graphics to create his own cachets for his personal collection. Since the first USPS issue of 2016, Charles has developed nearly 400 cachets for himself and a few collector friends. Beginning in 2018, Charles decided to share his love of cachet making with other collectors by developing a very limited number of cachets of each USPS stamp issue in the form of First Day Covers and, for certain commemoratives, First Day of Issue Souvenir Pages.
